Adventure & Positive Lifestyle with Love

Hey there! Welcome to Explore from Sea to Shore. We are Leslie and Geoff. Thank you so much for your interest in our adventures, experiences and learning more about us.

As a couple who is passionate about enjoying the great outdoors, connecting with nature in a positive way and sharing a love for adventure we hope to inspire others to do the same. We both come from seafaring backgrounds and have explored by both land and sea. Our love for the ocean as well as the wonders beyond of its shores motivates us to write about our experiences with an enfaces on the environment and a positive lifestyle.

Geoff and I met while crewing for competing sailboats in Newport, Rhode Island in 2010. Back then we both had been in the sailing industry in Newport for quite some time but our paths just never crossed. All summer long our boats sailed on opposite schedules and then I would jet off to spend the winter in St John, US Virgin Islands. Geoff and I would see each other from across the wharf all summer long but we never actually talked to each other.

By the end of the summer season I was feeling the itch to travel again so I had a long trip to Ireland already planned when Geoff and I finally met. Not expecting him to say yes, I jokingly asked him if he wanted to go with me, and… Low and behold, two months later we had our first big adventure together as a couple traveling through Ireland and the United Kingdom for a month. Since then we have explored from the Caribbean to Canada and everywhere in between.

We have a passion for enjoying the great outdoors and sharing our adventures through stories and photographs. Our mission is to offer our honest and passionate experiences to help others who may need inspiration to get out there, assistance making adventuring easier or who just need a little help to get their wanderlust flowing again. It’s not always glamorous or easy traveling as a couple but it is incredibly fulfilling. Welcome to the endless possibilities!

A tidbit about Leslie:

I have an insatiable love for adventure, I guess it’s the Sagittarius in me. Growing up in the Caribbean on a sailboat built by my father was amazing childhood. I was born in the Turks and Caicos Islands and lived afloat from six days old until I was eighteen. My mother homeschooled me through high school, then I went to college in Rhode Island. Living on land for the first time was a whole new adventure! Living aboard our boat was a lot like camping. No refrigeration, A/C, and only solar and wind power for electricity so I learned the importance of environmentally responsible living at an early age. It was an amazing and awe-inspiring way to grow up!

I sailed all over the Caribbean with my family, from the Bahamas to Jamaica, Hispaniola to Honduras, the Cayman Islands to the Virgin Islands. The list of pristine destinations is long and full of adventure. I earned my US Coast Guards captains license when I was nineteen so that jump started my career in the marine industry, allowing me to travel to even more amazing places. After college I started exploring parts of Europe and the USA.

I am so thankful to have lived in so many unique places and experienced so many different cultures. Travel and adventure feed my soul so I can’t wait to find another path less traveled leading to another once in a lifetime experience.

A few of Leslie’s passions and hobbies:
  • Scuba Diving, even if I don’t get to dive that often any more.
  • Making lists! I make lists for everything, and…Geoff is shaking his head right now.
  • Pottery. Throwing a on a pottery wheel is my form of meditation. Everything past or future melts away and I truly live in the moment.
  • Cooking. I LOVE to cook…and eat! My mom is a great cook so she is my inspiration.
  • Scrapbooking. This is a new found hobby and I can’t get enough. It’s a fantastic way of re-living my last adventure.
  • Sustainability and environmentally conscious living.
Meet Geoff:

Geoff is from the small, yet mighty Ocean State. He grew up in a beautiful town outside Providence, Rhode Island. From his upbringing, Geoff has always had a passion for helping people and making a difference in someone’s life. This passion, coupled with a calm and level headed nature led him to become a paramedic.

Later on, Geoff’s life totally changed when he fell in love with the sea. He found the same passion in being a paramedic but at a slower pace. During his life as a professional sailor he worked on various boats in Newport RI and the Virgin Islands. He loves the freedom of sailing and the satisfaction of a wonderful day on the water.

Geoff’s love for travel and navigation started young when his family took an amazing trip to Ireland and London. Since then he has road tripped through the United States, Canada, explored Jamaica, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda and beyond.

Geoff is the guy with his head in the road atlas looking for the tiny roads without names or the secluded pond to paddle on. He is the guy constantly checking the weather and is always in tune with any meteorological changes. With his skills in the medical field, he is also the person you want to have around in an emergency. He loves history and believes we should always learn from the past. All together this makes him the perfect travel partner and adventure seeker.

What are Geoff’s interests and hobbies?
  • Radio waves! Anything that uses radio waves, ham radios, VHF radios, AM/FM radios, single sideband, shortwave, over the air TV, anything!
  • An environmentally responsible lifestyle.
  • History! He is a huge history buff.
  • Non-fiction.
  • Trivia. Geoff had a ton of useless knowledge!… We have won quite a few rounds of pub trivia because of his knowledge.

As a couple we have explored and lived in so many places since 2010. We find that sometimes the planning and organizing for our next adventure is a big part of the fun. Other times we just “wing it” and are usually pleasantly surprised by how relaxing it is not to have a plan. Life is not always easy and we are not the perfect couple but we are the perfect team. We love our adventure of a lifetime together and we wouldn’t want to have it any other way.

We look forward to seeing you out on your next adventure soon!
